Second Sunday of the month apart from November and December when it is the first Sunday and we don't meet in August. 9:30am - 11:00am
Gener8 is for anyone who wants to have fun while worshipping God!!
While it’s mostly aimed at families, we get a whole range of ages who happily get stuck into anything we throw at them.
To give you a vague idea, in the past we’ve made a giant box model Goliath, had custard powder explosions and penalty shoot-outs, done hand massage, made swords and wooden crosses, fired catapults, painted pebbles, and created all kinds of other things including props for the story and tasty things to eat!
The morning starts at 9.30am with the activities (so it doesn’t matter if you come in late!) These are always based around a bible story and we try to offer something for everyone – something crafty (and probably messy), something active and something for those who like to be a bit more sedate! There is always a cooking activity too, which is most important as we eat what is created with our drinks (and Marj’s posh biscuits) at the end! If someone comes who wants to be there but doesn’t necessarily want to join in, there are armchairs and newspapers by the coffee bar – and drinks are available throughout.
At about 10.15am we put on suitable (or not) tidy-up music (Benny Hill!) and get ready for the worship part of the morning. The main part of this is the bible story – we try to make this as interactive as possible, giving opportunities to join in either by taking on a role in the story or by making sound effects or shouting out lines. We want to bring the bible to life and show that God is real!!
After the story we have a prayer time – again, these are active prayers. Usually everyone has been involved in writing their own prayers and they are offered up to God. Recently everyone had a balloon to blow up and let go when the prayer was finished!
We finish at around 10.40am with a song which is usually accompanied by silly actions, and then by joining hands in the Grace. And then it’s over to the coffee bar for hot drinks/squash and to sample the culinary delights created earlier!
It’s great fun, it’s active, it’s never the same twice. Give it a go!!
First and second Sunday both services, the evening service on the third Sunday and the morning service on the fourth Sunday.
Christmas Nativity 2010
